Easy Sloppy Joes w/o a Can
This is a really easy recipe! It is so much better than its canned counter part. Happily you should have everything in your kitchen, and you’ll know exactly what’s in the dish (no hidden ingredients).
Since we double the recipe to have enough for all 5 of us and change-up the beginning, I’m going to type up what we do…but I’ve also attach the original recipe!
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 cut onion
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 cup ketchup
- 4 Tablespoon water
- 2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 Tablespoon brown sugar
- 2 teaspoon prepared mustard (we use yellow)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Sandwich buns
In a saucepan, cook beef with onion & garlic over medium to medium-high heat until no longer pink; drain.
Stir in the ketchup, water, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, salt & vinegar. Bring to a boil.
Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 30-40 minutes. (honestly though…I’ve simmered it for 10 min and let it cool and reheated over the course of 2 hours and it tastes great).
